The two-time champion West Indies has won the first T-20 World Cup cricket. The East registered its first win by defeating Zimbabwe by 31 runs in the eighth edition held in Australia on Wednesday.
Chasing the target of 154 runs given by West Indies, Zimbabwe scored only 122 runs in 18 overs 2 balls. Lunki Juwanka scored 29 runs for Zimbabwe while Wesley Madhiviri contributed 27 runs. Alzari Joseph took the most four wickets for West Indies. Jason Holder also took three wickets. Earlier, West Indies, who batted first, scored 153 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Johnson Charles scored the highest 45 runs for West Indies. Similarly, Rovman Powell scored 28 runs. Sikandar Raja took the most three wickets for Zimbabwe. Similarly, Blessing Mujarwani took two wickets. With the win, West Indies is in the fourth position of Group B after adding 2 points in two matches. Zimbabwe is second with 2 points from two games. West Indies lost the first match against Scotland by 42 runs.
