The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission has filed a corruption case against 37 people for embezzling land in Mahendranagar market area in Bhimdatta municipality of Kanchanpur. Authority spokesperson Shyam Prasad Bhandari told Ratopati that a charge sheet was filed in a special court against 37 people, including 3 former chairmen of Mahendranagar City Development Committee.
The Commission filed a case against 64 people on the charge of misappropriation of that land on 11th Baisakh 2079. The Authority had been investigating for a long time about the embezzlement of 573 bighas of 638 bighas in Mahendranagar market area.
Although the government allowed the City Development Committee to manage the land in 2035, the commission is of the opinion that the land was over-exploited with the connivance of the Chairman of the City Development Committee and the staff of the Land Registry Office. The commission has made 37 people including the then presidents of Mahendranagar City Development Committee Gopal Rasaili, Paltu Rana, Pushkal Chaudhary and member-secretary Chandra Prasad Chaudhary as opposition.
The Commission is of the opinion that the accused have provided the government land in the name of individuals based on a single specific order without the decision of the board meeting.
